Stuck for Ideas?
We've Got Plenty.

The last thing anyone wants to face is being wrongly accused of a crime but, unfortunately, it can happen.

A witness or victim can identify the wrong person, circumstances can lead police to think that an innocent suspect committed a crime, and an innocent person can even be formally charged with a crime he did not commit.  Such is the case of  James Allen Dasher.

Mr. Dasher's rape allegation is false – meaning that there is a slew of evidence that was never addressed . Also, there was not enough evidence to bring charges.  ---  A rape might have occurred, but James had nothing to do with the crime he was accused of.

PROJECT 33 //  WHAT TO DO

Your innocence does not protect you.  When innocent people are confronted with untrue allegations of RAPE, they frequently assume that this is a simple misunderstanding and that it will be cleared up quickly.

They cooperate with police and try to explain.   They have faith in our system of justice.  They do not IMMEDIATELY hire an attorney with specialized experience.

WORD OF ADVICE — Take the allegation seriously.

Hire an attorney. Get an attorney with specialized experience -- not a local lawyer who has little experience with rape allegations. .

  •

  • DONATE

  • VOLUNTEER!

  • HOST a local fundraising and educational event — You, your friends or a group you belong to can organize an event to raise money to support and educate the exonorated.

  •

  • Learn about local procedures and help improve them

  •

Engage allies in addressing wrongful convictions

  • Everyone is impacted by wrongful convictions, but some individuals and groups aren’t yet involved in preventing injustice. Encourage people to become more actively involved in these issues.
